Innovative Information Systems that enable our customers to transform their businesses
Welcome to the home of the Centre for Information and Security Systems Research (CISSR). BT's strategy to become a leading provider of Networked IT services means that innovation in Information & Security space is vital to keeping the company ahead, to continuously reduce operational costs and introduce new products and services into the market.
CISSR has a long track record in technologies vital for managing the next generation of IT applications and services such as Virtualisation, Next Generation OSS, Semantic Web, Information Security and Adaptive Systems.
The vision of the centre is two-fold:
- To create the new applications and systems that are adaptive by design.
- To create a management capability that automatically meets dynamic business goals.
To do these we are developing:
- Next Generation IT Infrastructure: an ICT infrastructure that adapts resources automatically according to fluctuations in business demands, not subject to lengthy orders or change controls.
- Next Generation Management Systems: reporting of ICT performance against impact on the customers own business goals, not just against ICT products.
- ICT services that self heal, offering total resilience.
- Artificial Intelligence that levers complete value from the ICT, helping not just to optimise infrastructure and business operations, but supporting decision making at the strategic level.
- Next Generation product and service assembly technologies: automated tool support to drastically reduce Concept to Market timescales by employing advanced Assembly of Products and Services from re-usable Components.
- Next generation IT applications: incorporating sense-making from human generated semantics and turning that into information and knowledge that is automatically fed back into IT applications for real time adaptation.
- Next generation Information Security: incorporating appropriate levels of security for sharing and processing of information across an enterprise including real time adaptation where necessary.
- Next generation Enterprise Risk Management: developing a wholistic approach to enterprise risk management incorporating dynamic measurements of a multitude of risks that enterprise are exposed to such as market risk, operational risk and security risk.
