Next Generation Phone

Project PAN looked to evolve the mass telecommunications market by delivering a revolutionary customer experience in personal communication for the home.

The PAN user interfaces supports a wide range of capabilities, including customisable User Profiles, Presence Management and Messages Overviews. Also included are Quicklinks, Contacts Lists, Calls and Messages Records, Internet Access, My Media with NetStore, Organiser, Applications such as Games and BT Yahoo Services such as BT Billing, Directoty Enquiries, News, Sports, Entertainment.

The prototype demonstrator also included the design and development of a cordless WiFi handset and Broadband base station.

The handset has large colour screen and can support a range of exciting new services. The device is also a fixed/mobile “converged” concept, enabling customers to also use the handsets out of the home with communications services provided via WiFi hotspots or cellular mobile networks.
