Our research on network based media album explored new ways to enhance how consumers view, interact and share digital media with friends and family.
Annotated Media Album
The Annotaed Media Album project explored how BT could offer a value added service for on-line media albums, by providing facilities for people to voice annotate their shared photo albums.
The project researched, trialled and developed a number of consumer media anotation service propositions.
Network Cache Media Album
A potential opportunity exists for the deployment of a Network Cached Media Album (NCMA), which enables owners of digital cameras to post thumbnail photographs on a remote secure server for invited guests to view. Authorised guests are able to view the thumbnail photographs stored on the server, while higher resolution duplicate images can be downloaded direct from the Broadband enabled PC of the photograph owner.
This project looked to explore and verify this opportunity through the investigation of related commercial solutions, the development of a working demonstrator system and a vision for future media album services through the creation of a supporting standalone presentation. This report documents the findings of the initial search for similar and related commercial services and applications and offers recommendations for the development of NCMA proposition.
