Howard Towner
Howard Towner is currently studying for an Engineering Doctorate on Facial Expression. He spends the majority of his time based in the Media Interfaces Group at Adastral Park, but continues to have strong links with the Department of Computer Science, University College London who provide his academic supervision.
Howard's research focusses on analysing and representing facial expression. He is interested in what information has to be captured in order to to accurately predict an individuals facial expression and has developed techniques for maximizing this accuracy. He is also examining how facial expression is related to physiological measures such as heart rate and skin conductance. This combines aspects from several academic disciplines including computer graphics, image processing, psychology and mathematics.
