Geo-Referenced Media Toolkit 'Lite'

This research is exploring how a simple located media toolkit can be used across a wide range of 'public authoring' location sensitive applications. The project is developing prototype of a simple spatialised media provision and consultation toolkit which can be trialled with users.

There are 4 distinct software components within the toolkit which include; Mobile Client running on a PDA, Broadband Internet Client accessed via a website, Locative Experience Creation Client and the Locative Annotation Review Client.

This research project supports a BT Global Services, Local Government and Education proposition in collaboration with 'Clicks & Links' for Elevate. Elevate are a Government funded housing renewal pathfinder charged with finding innovative solutions to the problem of low demand, negative equity and housing market collapse in towns across East Lancashire.

In November 2005 we ran a user trial of the PDA based Mobile Client software in Burnley Wood, Lancashire that tested the media provision and recording technologies used within locative media system.
