Edrama provides an online interactive stage for improvisiation and educational role-play. It consists of a multi-user shared environment in which groups of participants, represeted by virtual characters, can learn through role-play in scenarios.
The anonymity afforded by Edrama, caused by the lack of physical presence and the associated peer pressure can unleash people's previously unknown creative and improvisational depths. Results of edrama are relevant to the emerging field of serious games, for training and education over broadband and interactive TV.
Edrama is presented as a studio, with environments including: a single user dressing room, a multi-user green room and a stage with themed backgrounds. Each actor is can customise the presentation of their virtual character in the changing room. They meet the other players in the green room and act on the stage using text chat.
