Adrian Thurlow
Adrian Thurlow joined BT as a Research and Development apprentice and after completing that scheme went on to work for a number of years on ion implantation in the fabrication of high reliability silicon devices for use mainly in submarine cable systems. Subsequently he developed various techniques used for the packaging of opto-electronic devices focusing especially on the critical alignment of lensed single mode fibres to the optical device.
This was followed by work on technology integration where existing technologies were integrated in a innovative way to deliver new and compelling services and solutions such as wearable systems, applications operating over new digital wireless bearer networks for the emergency services, telecare, and Defence Technology Centre project deliverables.
Currently Adrian is investigating simple broadband computers as an alternative to traditional PC's, home network and networking technologies and turning existing monitors and screens into computing devices.
He is a named co-inventor on more than six patents.
